Success starts with a perfect brick
An article posted by Jeremy
You don’t start out saying you’re going to build a wall. You don’t start off saying “I’m going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall ever.” You start with a brick. You say “I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid.” Do that every single day and soon you’ll have a PERFECT wall. – Will Smith
Every entrepreneur embarking on the start up journey wants to have a successful endeavor. Ambitions are high and the goal of making the best business ever conceived is fresh on the mind.
It’s good to be ambitious and to have an ultimate goal in mind, but never forget how a wall starts.
The only way to reach your goals or your level of success as you define it, is by laying a perfect foundation. Each individual brick represents something you do that gets you closer to your holy grail.
Whether it’s reading a book every month about your craft or going to networking events, unless you continually add a brick to your foundation you’ll never create a wall.
Work on your craft everyday, rain or shine. Put in the time and start shaping your bricks for your perfect wall.
I’m curious

Hi Jeremy,
I'm also a huge fan of Will Smith. He really is an inspiration to many. He is one who has laid a great foundation for success in his work and life.
I love that quote from him. What it means for me is that it's really all about the journey that matters, the choices that we make and the lessons that we learn along the way and how we apply those lessons will determine our success.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day!
Hey there Theresa,
you hit the nail on the head. The choices we make during our journey dictates our future successes. Every choice is like a brick, make too many bad choices and your wall will have gaps and cracks.
But if you make smart choices your wall (life) will big strong.
Awesome stuff!
Thanks for stopping by and giving me your 2 cents! Very appreciative.

Will Smith never ceases to amaze me. The man is just a walking inspiration. Definitely a great role model and is the perfect example of hard work and determination beating straight talent and/or brains.
Hi Jeremy,
Great message and interesting quote from Will Smith. I agree, the foundation is the most important part. It takes time and patience to set those initial bricks just right, but that's okay.
They are eventually going to be holding up your entire masterpiece.
This was fun, I'm definitely looking forward to more.
Bryce
Hey there Bryce,
I'm glad the quote struck a cord with you.
You hit the nail on the head. It's going to take time a patience to set bricks the right way. In order to get where you want to be, you need that strong foundation.
The only way to get a strong foundation is to position bricks the correct way even though it may take longer than you'd want!
Awesome stuff Bryce. I'm glad you said that.
What's up Jeremy!
I like what Will said here. You can't start out with the Great Wall - it starts from one stone, or brick, or whatever the Great Wall is made of.
Incremental successes is what this yells to me. We want to create a business and expect it to make a Mill-Ticket in 3 months. But the truth is, we may lay 10 perfect breaks and a wind comes through knocking a few of them down...doesn't mean the plan is destroyed...means we have to continue to make progress despite the bumps in the road.
Great post man. I love how you executed it so tactfully.
PEACE
