The Journey to Success: a True Visual
An article posted by Jeremy
A friend of mine shared this picture on Facebook. It’s a very simple picture (emphasis on simple), but it’s a great representation of what the journey looks likes and doesn’t look like.
Let’s face it, every single person in this world wants to succeed. The only difference is in the manner we go about doing it.
Some reach the level of success that people want and some don’t; that’s life.
What is success
First off, Success is determined by you and only you.
Some people feel that success is monetary gains and some might feel that success is changing people’s lives.
Regardless of how you percieve success, the bottom line is it’s not a straight shot. If only it was that easy.
It’s not a matter of going from A to B; that’s much too easy. There will always be:
- twists and turns
- hurdles
- roadblocks
- people
In the way; you’ll certainly make unwanted detours. If it was a matter of going from A to B on a straight shot, the journey wouldn’t be as fulfilling when the end result is accomplished.
The realization
once you realize and accept the inevitability of hitting roadblocks, you can begin to make smart decisions that will limit the amount you face.
The journey is a long and sometimes lonely road, but if you find ways to limit the affect detours have on your overall path, you’ll be closer to your goals and have valuable life lessons to go along with it.
Discussion
How has your journey to success been and what type of road blocks have you encountered?

Hey Jeremy,
I am yet on my journey to success and the stumbling blocks that I've come across have ultimately pushed me more and more, in the direction that I needed to go in.
There have been several moments that I was certainly going in the wrong direction to obtain success, and what I've noticed is that the rough patches actually turned me form my direction better.
The twist and turns, roadblocks, and oh yes, people, have actually motivated me to go after that success that much more.
In the past, I was one of those that thought, all I had to do was "keep hoping" for my dream to happen and wait for my opportunity to present itself. I was very much fooled about the process though.
It takes effort, hard work, decision-making, and a lot of "elbow grease" to go after ones success. It takes persistence, self-motivation, and patience to be practiced daily to go after what you know is rightfully yours to have, in order for success to be obtained.
Anyone who was once like I was that thinks it's an easy road to success, is in for the disappointment of their life, literally. It doesn't just happen. It is approached, and it's something that we have to daily go after in order to obtain it.
Pure awesomeness bud! Loved this post! ;)
Deeone,
True words right there. I believe there are so many people who HOPE that their dreams and successes come true. I used to be one of those people as well.
I thought that it would all just come to me and life would take care of itself. Well, it doesn't work that way...at all.
I've had to work my butt off to get to the point I'm at right now, and I'm not done yet. I still have a ton of growing to do.
I like what you said about success is approached; It's so true. Everything you do (read, study, network, etc) is inching you closer to meeting success face to face.
The biggest obstacle that anyone can face is self sabotage. That's the only thing that will stand in your way if you're doing everything else correctly. That's where motivation, inspiration and determination come into play. If those 3 ingredients are working in unison, there's no way self sabotage will make an appearance.
Appreciate you dropping your 2 cents Dee. Stay motivated!
J - this was good stuff!
It's the truth my friend. We create this image in our minds of how things should go. And just because we create it, if things steer off track- we get frustrated and give up. I used to do that junk all the time.
But what I've come to learn is the only time I've truly accomplished anything worthwhile, I've been challenged in the process. I've been challenged having speed bumps and mazes placed before me.
But adversity comes to make sure that we really want what we're after. Because if we really know, then we're willing to allow the path to take its course - and we'll do the extra work to get there.
I Iove the image. It pointed the picture well!
Now that you mention it JK, when I think about my accomplishments thus far in my life I come to the realization that I had to overcome some type of roadblock.
Nothing was accomplished without taking on a wall in which I had to lower the boom on and bust through
I'm convinced that's life. Nothing comes that easy and if it does it may not be worth while!
Hi Jeremy,
I am new to your site.
Thank you for that two contrasting pictures of success. It does put people's perspective about success into place.
Success to me is the progressive realization of a worthy goal, as defined by Earl Nightingale. Loved that quote and live by it. Makes success so much easier to achieved on a daily basis.
For any form of success, I believe that we must possess the mindset to be always ready for obstacles . When they do come, our energies will be focused on how to overcome them.
Personally for me, I embrace obstacles. They are actually secrets to success because of the learning they force upon us. For example, my current journey on personal development blogging. I am not a tech gig. I faced lots of simple issues like setting up an Aweber account and so on. But I have found a way round it by asking around. Another piece of success in place.
Hey there Jimmy,
You got it! Obstacles shouldn't be something to fear. It should be something to embrace simply because of the life lessons they teach.
Success doesn't have to be something profound. It can be something as easy as getting out of bed and going for a run.
And as you mentioned, you have found success in finding ways to solve your own issues. That's a perfect example about success not having to be something profound or extravagant.
Just keep building upon your successes; no matter what! That's what it's all about.
Glad you stopped by and gave me your 2 cents Jimmy!
